Finally! :)

Well, it's been forever since my last post...but for good reason. We are IN the NEW HOUSE!! Hooray!

Let's catch up: On August 10, we closed on the house. On the 15th we had appliances and cable installed. From the 10th-22nd, Steven and I moved boxes to the house after work every night.

On August 22nd it was the big moving day!! We had a lot of help from family--THANK YOU!!

Since then we've been unpacking, settling into Avon, and working on the Columbus house. Near the end of September we put the Columbus house on the market--we're going to try to sell it on our own at first, so we're hopeful we'll get some interested people soon!

We've also had a lot of fun with concerts, family, and fall shopping--I'll post those pictures too.

SOOO Close!!!

It's amazing, but we are just hours away from closing on our new home! Between the last post and tonight, there has been a flurry of activity. The contractors had painting to fix, drywall to patch, and trim work to complete. They installed the kitchen island (I can't wait to actually use it), put the finishing touches on the outside of the house, and we got our landscaping!!
I'm sure we'll update more when the papers are signed and we're officially homeowners (well...for the second time).

Let there be LIGHT!!

Last week we were able to shine the light on all of our house...because we got electricity and lighting installed!! Hooray. The best part was seeing the actual fixtures. It's funny how we never paid much attention to the lights in the model homes, but I would have likely picked the ones in our home anyway. Unfortunately, I don't have a clear picture of the kitchen light which is one of my favorites! Here's the fixture in the dining room (and the same is in the nook).

The other exciting thing we saw last week were the SHUTTERS!! The outside of our house is almost complete. We have gutters, shutters, and the garage lighting. The landscaping should be done, weather permitting, this week.

This weekend we had the good fortune to have some friends and family get to see the house! It's still amazing that we're so close to owning a BRAND NEW HOUSE!! On Monday, the carpet crew laid the carpet throughout the house. They did a nice job AND when they were finished they went through the entire house making sure all the windows and doors were locked :) The remainder of this week will be a flurry of activity because we have our home orientation on Tuesday, August 4th (Happy Birthday Kim, Happy Birthday week Malari!) When we do the orientation, everything is supposed to be complete, we see how to use everything, make sure it all works, and point out any flaws that have to be fixed before our August 10th closing. Here comes the whirlwind!!

It's a BRICK House...

I couldn't resist! We got our brick this week!! It's been sitting at the site since the framers began, so we were waiting to see what it was going to look like.

Here's the view with the brick completed! We are SO close to the finished product. The outdoor area need shutters, gutters, landscaping, and some finish work.

This week, they also worked on the trim work.
That included the cabinets, stairs, baseboards, doors, and window trim.

This is one of my favorite areas! I love the way the "Butler's Pantry" is turning out.

Sorry for the single photo posts....I'm trying new ways of getting photos from Shutterfly to Blogger, so bear with me! (I have no idea if this will be at the top of the date or not!!)

Today marks the 4 week mark until we close on our new home!! Can you believe it? We are set to close on August 10, 2009. Friends and family mark your moving calendars for August 22nd! Ha!! That should give you all plenty of time to prep. But seriously, since our last post we've gotten siding, drywall, and more wiring complete. This week we should start to see the paint hit the walls and the brick go up!!!
